Rappahannock chief Otho S. Nelson (1883–1967) shoots a wooden crossbow in a snowy yard with a clapboard house in this photograph by Frank G. Speck dated January 1942.
Speck (1881–1950) was a native of New York and a professor of anthropology at the University of Pennsylvania, where he specialized in Algonquian and Iroquoian tribes in the eastern United States and Canada.
