Description

These miscellaneous stone and clay artifacts were found at a Late Woodland site in Halifax County in the southern Piedmont. The object at the top left is a broken steatite gorget. At the top center is a clay disc, perhaps a gaming piece, with decorative indentations. At the top right is a highly polished bead made from black chlorite. The object at the bottom left is a steatite paint cup; the object at the bottom left is a steatite line weight or net sinker. (Photo enhanced)
