This small ceramic vessel was found at a Late Woodland site in Halifax County in the southern Piedmont. It was impressed with a coarse net and notched along the rim for decoration. Ceramic impressions allow archaeologists to study Virginia Indian textiles that have decayed after centuries in the acidic soil.
