Description

This reassembled ceramic vessel was found at a Late Woodland site in Halifax County in the southern Piedmont. It was impressed with a unique, plaited or braided fabric and was notched with a fingertip along the rim. Ceramic impressions allow archaeologists to study Virginia Indian textiles that have decayed after centuries in the acidic soil.
