Description

This partial ceramic vessel was found at a Late Woodland site in Halifax County in the southern Piedmont. The exterior surface was impressed with fabric and notched with a fingernail along the rim for decoration. Ceramic impressions allow archaeologists to study Virginia Indian textiles that have decayed after centuries in the acidic soil.
