Description
This ceramic sherd was found at a Late Woodland site in Prince George County on the southern Coastal Plain. The vessel it came from is an example of Abbott Farm Ware zoned pottery, a rare type that is elaborately decorated with fine, incised motifs forming geometric bands around the vessel. This sherd also shows finger notching along the rim. These ceramics were likely used in large ceremonial feasts between 1000 and 1400 C.E.
