Abbott Farm Ware Ceramic Sherds
Dublin Core
Title
Abbott Farm Ware Ceramic Sherds
Description
These ceramic sherds were found at a Late Woodland site in Prince George County on the southern Coastal Plain. The vessel they came from is an example of Abbott Farm Ware zoned pottery, a rare type that is elaborately decorated with fine, incised motifs forming geometric bands around the vessel. The small punctuated holes were made with a small tool such as a fish bone. These ceramics were likely used in large ceremonial feasts between 1000 and 1400 C.E.
