Description

These ceramic sherds were found at an Early Historic period site in Roanoke County in the Blue Ridge. They have been decorated by pressing a simple stamp into the wet clay before firing. Virginia Indians continued to produce and use traditional ceramic vessels alongside the vessels they obtained from European colonists. (Photo enhanced)
